The Peace of Wild Things by Wendell Berry

When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.

In the land of Cowboys and Indians

"fuck what they’ve told you…"

"fuck what they’ve told you…"

This is for the lonely kids. For the kids born into poverty and the kids born into affluence. The popular kids, the outcasts and everyone in between or that doesn’t apply. This is to every person and no such factors of chance or familiar roles will pay mind to this simple concept. This a plea to act with kindness and compassion. To love yourself and to love others. To release yourself of your insecurities and negativity— by doing this, you’ll feel more free than ever before. Do things that fulfill your soul and make you feel happy. The mother of our Earth, the energies that be, the moon, and the sky will all be there to guide you if you let them. You just have to be sure to treat all with respect and great understanding.
This is an urgent plea for all to emanate true love and realize your insignificance in this world. You will be happy then.

Never did I imagine that life could be as painful as I know now.

Momma’s Strawberry Flower Shirt. May 12, 2014 (day after Mothers Day)

Presque Isle Park on Lake Erie. Just a few weeks before my moms stroke, my father and mother came to Presque Isle on their way back from visiting my sister.

They reveled in the beauty of the surrounding landscape and their sweet, everlasting love for one another.

My mom told me about the formations of the ice on the water and that it had looked like it was a land from another world. She said that we would have to back there again and really wanted me to see what she had saw.  My dad told me about their holding hands and the love that was felt on that cold, spring day in the beginning of the month of March, the year of 2014. This is the month and year that is forever frozen into my consciousness.

You never know when your life will forever change. My father lost his only love, his Lucy. I lost my only mother and life will never be the same.
